The high Black Forest was comparatively late populated. Its people have generated in almost a millennium a cultural landscape, which in Central Europe probably is unique. A colorful, lively interplay of forests, meadows and pastures with the characteristic farmhouses makes the charm of this region. Not least, this charm makes the high Black Forest  to the most popular tourist destinations in Germany.
